The peaceful atmosphere of the sea extends across the open land behind the beach. A lighthouse on its northern side has the characteristic Fl(4) 20s 6M. A beach fronts the low ground between the two hills, with an anchorage in depths of 4\u20136 metres. The area south of the beach also offers anchorage, with the option of taking a line ashore. The seabed consists of sand and seagrass.<\/p><p>The meltemi wind can sometimes blow strongly from behind the beach. A line ashore provides additional security for boats at anchor. The water is very clear, and there is a jetty south of the beach. A short walk ashore reveals the island's western coast and the open sea, while the higher hills offer views over the anchorage. It is a restful island, with Turgutreis opposite providing access to supplies.<\/p><p>Kuyruk Island and Yass\u0131ada lie to the south. The waters around Yass\u0131ada contain many old and more recent wrecks, which can be difficult to spot, especially in rough weather. Following archaeological excavation, finds from the Byzantine wreck were displayed at the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology. Strong currents occur in this area.<\/p><p>Navigate with particular care in the waters around \u00c7atal Island, especially at night. Watch for the rocks off the island's northern shore, and exercise caution around \u00c7obanada, T\u00fcll\u00fcceada and Sar\u0131ot islands to the southeast and the surrounding shallows.<\/p><p>Dive boats departing from Turgutreis arrange guided trips outside areas where diving is prohibited, offering the chance to explore the underwater scenery in clear water.<\/p><\/div><\/section><section id=\"palamut\"><h2>Palamut Beach<\/h2><figure><img class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/9bodrumhotel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Palamut-768x225.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/9bodrumhotel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Palamut-300x88.jpg 300w, https:\/\/9bodrumhotel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Palamut-600x176.jpg 600w, https:\/\/9bodrumhotel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Palamut-768x225.jpg 768w, https:\/\/9bodrumhotel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Palamut-1024x300.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 70vw\" width=\"1024\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Palamut Beach \u00b7 Turgutreis\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"><\/figure><div class=\"bh-prose\"><p>Palamut Beach is 4.5 km from central Turgutreis. Holiday homes and Ak\u00e7ab\u00fck Holiday Village line the bay, which lies between Akyarlar village and Meteoroloji Bay. Daily boat trips visit nearby bays in summer, and the area is suitable for water sports.<\/p><p>The island of Kos lies 3 nautical miles opposite Ak\u00e7ab\u00fck Bay.
